I am British and I want to emigrate to America, where should I go?

I like the rationality of american culture, its a little more "common sense" than the UK version and I am considering what it would be like to live there. What places in the USA would you recommend for immigration? This is the 1st time I have ever thought of this and I just want to get some ideas. I know there is always new york but I dont really fancy that. Anywhere else? Plus I know this is in the wrong section but there are more likely to be americans here than anywhere else, the Travel and Immigration section is really quiet, almost dead!
